What Is Ear Candling?

Ear Candling is a gentle, safe and non-invasive treatment where the tapered end of a purpose made candle is inserted into the ear while the other end of the candle is lit. With the therapist’s hands clasped around the candle, the candles acts a chimney, drawing up impurities from within the ear.

The warmth that emits from the candle helps to soften and loosen compacted ear wax and can induce a great sense of well-being.

2What Are The Candles Made Of?

Ear candles are a natural product, comprised mainly of pure bees wax and an organic linen lining.

Herbs such as Sage, St John’s Wort and Chamomile are the most commonly added ingredients, which also makes the treatment more effective. The aroma from the candle when burning can be very comforting to the client.

I personally only use good quality candles such as Biosun.

Where Does Ear Candling Originate From?

Hopi Ear Candling, also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy, dates back to over 1,500 years ago when used by the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Tibetan Monks and the native Indians of South and North America.

Ear Candling was originally used for spiritual and aura cleansing before entering a trance state as well as for rituals and healing ceremonies.

The Benefits Of Ear Candling

With so many benefits, it’s not surprising it’s popular with people of all ages, from children to adults. It can bring relief from headaches and migraines, sinus congestion, snoring, lymphatic congestion, hearing difficulties, allergy symptoms and balance issues. It can induce a more balanced emotional state and clearer thinking. It can also help with the discomfort of pain and pressure experienced from change of elevation such as flying and scuba diving.

Pricing

  • 45 Minutes. £40

*Please Note: For new clients, a full consultation is carried out prior to your first treatment at a cost of £12.

What Can I Expect From My Appointment?

An initial face-to-face (or phone) consultation will be carried out in order to determine suitability of the treatment by completing a medical history form as well as discussing your preference of oils.

Following the consultation, the treatment will then be carried out on a day convenient to you. The session is approximately 40 minutes long, plus 30 minutes for the first initial consultation.

The client will lay on each side for both ears to be treated. Each candle can take between 5 and 15 minutes to burn. Following this, a massage may be applied around the back of the ears and sinus area which helps to stimulate the acupoints and drain the sinuses.

You may feel a little light headed after a treatment (this is completely normal), so a glass of water and some recovery time is recommended.

You should also keep your ears out of water for 24 hours and cover them if going outside in the cold wind or rain.

For those with a longstanding issue, a follow up treatment is recommended after 3-7 days of first treatment.

Success Stories

So last night I had my first experience with Hopi ear candling with the amazing Tina.

I absolutely loved the treatment, it was so relaxing and I slept so well afterwards.

I woke up feeling great after suffering with some feelings of congestion and discomfort for a few months.

I can’t recommend this treatment and Galini Therapies enough.
