What Is The Menopause?

The menopause has 3 different stages which include perimenopause, menopause and post menopause.

  1. Perimenopause is prior to the onset of full menopause, when changes begin in the body. Periods start to become irregular, hormone production decreases and you become less fertile.
  2. Menopause usually begins between the age of 44 and 55, but in some cases can begin earlier. It occurs when your hormone levels are low and so your periods stop. It can be defined when a period has been absent for 12 consecutive months. However, this phase can happen between two and ten years. Generally, the average for most women is five years.
  3. When all hormonal changes have taken place, you’re entering post menopausal phase. Your periods are no longer present, however, some women can still experience symptoms of menopause.

What Is The Menopause Therapeutic Massage?

If you’ve ever had a massage, you’ll agree that it can be a wonderful way to feel relaxed, balance you physically and mentally and support your general wellbeing.

Clients who receive a Menopause Massage can enjoy the benefits following the treatment. It can help you physically and emotionally during a time of distress and sometimes despair. The client will be focussed on as a whole person, and not just treating the symptoms or other issues that are present with menopause.

The Benefits Of Menopause Therapeutic Massage

A menopause therapeutic massage can help with the following:

  • Alleviate headaches.
  • Help to reduce abdominal bloating.
  • May help ease hot flushes and reoccurring night sweats.
  • Reducing sore muscles and aches and pains.
  • Helping to reduce cortisol, the stress hormone.
  • Reducing inflammation and swelling.
  • Helping to relax and improve sense of wellbeing.
  • Reducing anxiety, stress and depression.
  • Helping to calm the nervous system.
  • Better sleep.

During the massage specialised massage techniques along side acupressure are used. This can help the hormone glands to regulate production better, which can help to minimise hot flushes. Using essentials oils blended to the needs of the client, can have a wonderful effect due to their therapeutic properties. (eg: Geranium is a balancing oil; helping to manage hormonal changes).

Breathwork is used to help ground the client ready for their journey in experiencing this nurturing and compassionate therapy.
