What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic form of therapy that applies pressure to particular points on your hands and soles of your feet that correspond with organs of the body and helps to activate the body’s own healing powers.
Reflexology works on the principle of energy zones (“Qi”, pronounced “Chee”) which run through the body and corresponding reflex’s in the body and feet. If the energy becomes blocked, the relating body part is also affected.
The blockages or congestion can be felt like ‘gritty’ areas which are often referred to as crystal deposits, which cause an imbalance.
It is an ancient method that has been used for thousands of years and there is even evidence it was used by the Egyptians, with drawings on tombs dating back to 2330BC.
How It Works
Stimulating the reflexes encourages the body’s own healing powers to restore balance and promotes a sense of wellbeing holistically. It helps to dissipate energy blocks and break down blockages which in turn helps improve circulation of blood, oxygen and ‘qi’ around the body, relieving stress and healing pain in other parts of the body.

What Can I Expect From My Appointment?
An initial face-to-face (or phone) consultation will be carried out in order to determine suitability of the treatment by completing a medical history form as well as discussing your preference of oils. Following the consultation, the treatment will then be carried out on a day convenient to you. The session is approximately 60 minutes long, plus 30 minutes for the first initial consultation.
Please Note: Reflexology is not a foot massage, but I will include a short foot massage at the beginning, to introduce the session and to help you to feel more relaxed. The feet are worked on by applying firm pressure to specific points which help to release tension and dissolve pain in areas that may have congestion.
To complete the treatment, I like to finish off with a lower leg and foot massage, which is always welcomed by clients. I also use essential oils which is a great way to induce relaxation further after the session. However, the use of oils can be omitted should this be preferred by the client.
Finally, although a one-off session of Reflexology can be beneficial, a course of between 4 and 6 sessions would be recommended for anyone who has an ailment or condition they wish to treat. Following this, a monthly top up can be arranged to maintain a sense of well-being should the client require this.
